How to keep your cat healthy

How to choose your vet

You need to give a little effort before you choose your vet. You need to feel confidence in him. A confidential relationship is essential between you and your vet. It is always better to consult the same vet in order to guarantee the healthiness of your cat. (Except in case of emergencies).

A yearly medical examination done by your vet is the most important element of a preventive treatment. In order to keep a cat healthy you have to avoid exposure to viral infections which can be deadly. All cats should get their vaccines and their refreshments at the indicated dates.

The vaccines are annually appointment for adult cats during their recommended routine visit. The kittens, on the other hand, need a series of vaccines for their protection during their growth.

The first weeks of their life, the cats are in a certain way immunized because the placenta and the first milk of the mother, called colostrums, they drink during their first two days of their life give them all necessary antibodies. These antibodies decrease with the time, so that the cats have to vaccinate.

During the first meeting with your vet, you will be asked to give a lot of information. This information will help the vet to determine the illnesses of which your cat could have been exposed. Afterwards he will develop a schedule for the right vaccination at the right time. No matter how these schedules might vary, but it is important that your kittens get the basic vaccines.

However: it is always better to prevent than to heal…
