How to choose a kitten

The choice of a new master often bases only on the esthetical value. I ask you not only to pay attention to this aspect. Your cat has to be in a healthy condition and a compatible temperament to your life style. The examination of these two aspects will take some of your time.

The acquisition of a kitten cannot be decided by a blink of an eye, it has to be well-thought. A little kitten can bring a lot of joy, but it also can cause some inconveniences. It is an important decision which will change your life of many years. Your cat will share your daily routine with you for 15 to 20 years (sometimes even more).

Rules for the acquisition of an animal:

  1. To have respect for the animal
  2. To be physically (no allergies) and mentally (balanced character) able to take care of it
  3. To assure a constant presence in the house, if the cat is meant to live by itself without other cats.
  4. To be completely available for the necessary needs.
  5. To have the financial basis to assure the maintenance.
  6. To have the agreement of the other family members.
  7. To find an “assistant”, who could take care of the animal during your absence.
  8. To assure necessary time for sequences of divertissement (games) and social contact.
