The treatment

Some people think that the sphinx doesn’t need any cleaning due to the lack of hair. It is this lack of hair which reclaims quite a lot of treatments.

The sphynx sweats like a human being, which is unique for cats, and produces a lot of sebum. And this can’t be absorbed by the hair. If you don’t wash it regularly, its skin will appear greedy. The sphynx has to be bathed with a mild soap which is ph-neutral (every two weeks). You can also clean it by using a wash cloth.

The ears also have to been cleaned regularly. It is recommended to cut its extremities of the claws regularly by the help of an instrument which is specifically constructed for this purpose. You have to practice with this instrument, so make sure that you just cut the risk free parts. It is better to proceed by little, successive steps instead of cutting everything at once and risking to touch the living parts.

Without an isolating protection to the skin, it is very sensible to strong temperature changes and sunny summer days. It is wise to keep the sphinx inside: imagine a sphinx which has a skin like a baby, to survive outside.
